The Biswa Bangla Gate (Kolkata Gate) has been erected at the 3rd Rotary in front of Rabindra Tirtha on Biswa Bangla Sarani (MAR) in New Town , Kolkata having a unique architectural features with two catenery arches coming from 4 quadrants of road inter-section joined at top. The salient features of the project are :-
> The crossroad square has four traffic islands each located diagonally opposite, which allowed to raise four massive curved steel pillar to form two intersecting arches.
> Height of arches - 55 m.
> 60m diameter circular ring shape platform walkway at a height 25m from ground designed to accommodate 100 viewers at a time . Besides there is provision for a Restaurant at the evening with a sitting capacity of 70 persons at a time.
> There are three lifts including one service lift and two decorative staircases to access the platform.
> Designed architectural illumination adds to its aesthetics.
> Iconic city gateway is a magnet to attract people for celebrating events of national and international stature.
