Cairo is the largest city in the Arab world and also one of the most interesting and dynamic ones. With a history and heritage going back to one of the pivotal civilisations in the world, the Egyptian Civilisation, Cairo is the hub of culture and politics not just for Egypt but for the region as a whole. Cairo is the capital of Egypt and built on the banks of the river Nile in an area which has witnessed the rise and fall of many civilisations through the centuries. This has resulted in the integration of ancient, medieval, and modern traits into all aspects of life here. The short shoulder seasons from March to April and then from October to November are ideally the best time to visit Cairo. If you are looking for the peak tourist season, then it is the winter. Egypt, being a desert country located too near to the equator, has unbelievably hot weather during the season of summer. However, it is comparatively cooler than its southern neighbours Luxor or Aswan, but it is still hot enough to have a comfortable tour in the sands. Diverse architectural styles, extreme wealth and poverty, Parisian boulevards and crumbling façades, skyscrapers and minarets, appalling traffic, lively cafés and nightclubs, make up a city that may not conquer you at first sight, but that will leave a lasting impression.
