MEMORANDUM of UNDERSTANDING between The UNIVERSITY of WARSAW Faculty of Political Science and International Studies And UNIVERSITY OF CALCUTTA Faculty of Arts

The University of Warsaw (hereinafter referred to as UW), a public university with its seat in Krakowskie Przedmie[cie 26/28, 00-927 Warszawa, Poland, represented in this act by its ViceRector for Cooperation and Human Resources, Prof. Sambor Grucza, holding the power of atorney no. BP-015-0-474/2020, and University of Calcuta (hereinafter referred to as CU), with its seat in87/1. College Stret, Kolkata -700073, represented in this act by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee, hereinafter both universities referred to as "the Parties", establish hereby a formal understanding on cooperation and friendship which is intended to further the academic objectives of each institution and to promote better understanding between the units listed below and students of both Parties.

Initially the cooperation will be executed by the following units: UW-Faculty of Political Science and Intermational Studies CU- Faculty of Arts and any concerned Department within

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is open to all other areas being of common interest.

Under this Memorandum of Understanding, the two Parties will proceed to implement the following endeavors and exchanges of materials and personnel:

1. Areas of cooperation

Cooperation shall be carried out, subject of availability of funds and approval of the authorities of Parties, in the areas being subject of mutual interest, through such activities or Programmes as:

1. Exchange of faculty members

2. Exchange of students, including PhD

3. Joint research activities

4. Participation in seminars and academic meetings

5. Exchange of academic materials

6. Special short-term academic Programmes

Terms of such mutual cooperation and necessary budget for each specific programme and activity that is implemented under the terms of this MoU shall be mutually agreed upon in writing by both Parties prior to the initiation of the particular programme or activity.

Each Party shall designate a Coordinator to develop and coordinate the realization of specific activities or programmes.

UW designates herewith Dr. Jakub Zajczkowski (Faculty of Political Science and International Studies) as Coordinator and contact person with regard to initial implementation of the present MoU.

CU designates herewith Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) as Coordinator and contact person with regard to the initial implementation of the present MoU.

2. Scope of the Cooperation

Areas of cooperation include, subject to mutual consent, any programme offered at either Party as felt desirable or feasible on either party and that both Parties feel can contribute to the fostering and development of the cooperative relationships between the two institutions.

3. General terms of MoU

1. The exchange referred to in the Article 1 will be organized on a reciprocal basis.

2. By agreeing to receive teachers and researchers, UW and CU undertake to permit, among other possibilities, for the use of their physical installations, equipmentand bibliographic material.

3. Each person involved in all foreseen activities of this MoU has to provide her/himself with a suitable health and third party liability insurance, according to the home country's regulations, without any financial liabilities.

4. Each party will watch over the intellectual property of the results achieved during common research program.

5. Details of particular activities (financial obligations, schedules, intellectual property right etc.) will be agreed in separate written agreement.

4. Financial Aspects

Both parties acknowledge and understand that all financial arrangements, if any, will be subject to negotiation and indicated in the specific written contract or agreement.

The present MoU does not create any financial obligation /liability on both parties.

5. Implementation

The present Memorandum of Understanding shall remain in force for a period of five (5) years from the date it is signed by legal representatives of both Parties. It may further be extended or amended upon a written consent of both Parties, in form of an annex. This MoU may be terminated by either Party, subject to delivery of six-month advance notice, in writing.

In the event of termination of this MoU, all ongoing programmes and/or activities will be implemented as planned unless otherwise agreed between the Parties.

6. Intellectual property

Intellectual property rights of jointly prepared publications, curricula and other materials being results of cooperation shall be safeguarded according to legal regulations being in force at both institutions.

7. Personal data

The parties acknowledge that all personal data processed in connection with the implementation of this agreement and its annexeswill be processed in accordance with the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation). The parties agree that all future agreements arising from the present General Agreement will comply with requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation.

8. Disputes

Any disputes that may arise during implementation of the present MoU, shall be settled amicably.

9. Final Provisions

Both Parties understand that all final arrangements will have to be negotiated and will depend on the availability of funds. During implementation of the present MoU both Parties shall comply with legal regulations being in force in both countries.

This MoU was made in two equivalent copies in English, with one copy for each Party
