NOBO BORSHO
Nobo Borsho, or Pohela Boishakh, is one of the most significant festivals for Bengalis, celebrated on the first day of the Bengali calendar. It symbolizes Bengali culture and traditions, where people welcome the new year with joy and enthusiasm. On this day, events like Haal Khata, Mongol Shobhajatra, and various cultural programs take place. People dressed in red and white enjoy songs, dances, and traditional food like Panta Bhat with Hilsa fish.
The main purpose of Nobo Borsho is to start the new year positively and leave behind past sorrows and difficulties. Business owners close old accounts and start fresh transactions with Haal Khata. Various fairs, folk music performances, and plays are organized in both villages and cities to celebrate the occasion. This festival, celebrated by all, represents unity, harmony, and the vibrant spirit of Bengali culture.
